We recognise the value of physical activity in terms of both the health and well-being aspects. For some of our pupils, physical activity is not possible due to their medical condition but, for others, physical activity aids recovery.
Although we are unable to provide a full range of PE opportunities, we have an outside area at RDE which can be used for ball games, basketball, badminton etc. as well as for skill development for younger pupils. At the Outreach Centre we are able to use the nursery field and an indoor room for PE activities such as dodgeball, dance or simple athletics. We also make use of the local tennis courts and large park which are within easy walking distance.
Unfortunately there is no designated outdoor area at North Devon. Where pupils are studying PE at GCSE level, we are able to support with the theoretical aspects of the course. We liaise with their main school so that we can follow the same syllabus that is being offered by their chosen exam board.
